High School Coaches:

Coach Albert graduated from Upper Moreland High School where he wrestled all four years and then moved on to Bloomsburg University where he wrestled for three years for their Division One wrestling program. In his fifth year at Bloomsburg University, he came on as an assistant coach in 2005.  During his time as an assistant coach at Bloomsburg University, he served as an assistant wrestling coach and academic advisor for all wrestlers on the team.  As a wrestler at Bloomsburg University he helped train heavyweight, Mike Spaid, a 2X EWL Champion, 3X PSAC Champion, 4X NCAA National Qualifier, and 2006 – 2007 All American Division 1.  Upon graduation he moved on to the high school level of coaching as the assistant coach at Upper Moreland High School. In that time he doubled numbers, improved their wrestling skills, and produced the schools second freshman to make it to states and recently the first state medalist in thirty years, Tim Santry. He also guided the wrestling program on the winning path after finishing with the programs first winning season in over ten years.  Recently, he directed and facilitated a wrestling club that he had developed called the “Big Boys’ Club.”  This club had given many upper weight wrestlers in the area a chance to not only train with wrestlers of their size, but an opportunity to learn collegiate level styles of wrestling at higher weights. Two of his heavyweights that have trained in his class medaled in the 2009 PIAA State Championships: David Osei, 2nd and Alex Myers 6th.  Currently he is the head wrestling coach at Jim Thorpe High School and serves as an assistant camp director for the Bloomsburg University Wrestling Camps.
